Raven

"Raven"

Swiftest raven, sweetest flight
All is evil, all is right
And but for his peering eye
The rest the world is too shy
To own up and pay its dues

Swiftest raven, stealthiest flight
All is both a pretty, and an ugly sight
And he lurks up in the sky
And yet he breathes, he sighs
And behold his majestic beauty

Swiftest raven, breezy flight
All so weak, all so might
And he glides vulnerably on the wind
And stalks the world for prey
And scavenges for his food

Swiftest raven, heavy flight
Half lurks in dark, half in light
And hath he to tend the young
Fly like youth, free and high
Yet feathers tattered and torn

Swiftest raven, gliding flight
Fly at day, fly at night
Dreamy, graceful, all so calm
SCREECH from his tiny throat
Ear piercing scream released into the world

Swiftest raven, eternal flight
All is black, all is white
Twinkle in his daring eye
Aggressive tone in his cry
But come tomorrow, the fragile bird will die

Swiftest raven, honest life
Embodies beauty, endures through strife
Sees the world as it is
No more, no less than this
But he still finds bliss
In all of this life of his
