"What I Stand For"
I seem to the world a mere girl-nothing special-
And even I see this reality- the world thinks I'm a joke;
But in the back of my mind I don't
Somewhere, a strong, rooted feeling in my innermost gut-
I know that what I stand for
Is so much more.
I stand for understanding
But equally, harsh truths and tough love;
I stand for truth,
And realize life ain't fair
I stand for beliefs,
But don't believe what I used to.
I stand for having friends,
And I know friends can lead you wrong.
I stand for being able to dream,
But always having a back up plan.
I stand for being strong,
But there is something to be said for showing weakness.
I stand for keeping promises,
But realize all men are hypocrites.
I stand for intelligence,
But realize passion is necessary.
I stand for compromise,
But know lines have to be drawn.
I stand strong, like a brick wall outside
But inside, I'm really only half-strong.
I stand for being independent,
But know sometimes you need someone to lean on.
I stand for things a million men don't think about,
And I stand for being frustrated, but not caring much 'bout that.
And I stand for being me, not being afraid
And I ain't afraid to be called a coward.
A few people hate me, so I guess I stand for the hated,
But I know whose opinions to count.
I stand for knowing what I stand for-
But sometimes I trip, fall, get carried away in today
And
Get
Lost
