"A Child That is or Was"

For every star in the sky
There is or was a child
With a twinkle in their eye;
There's minds filled with questions
Like "How?" and "Why?";
There are hearts filled with love
And tears filled with sorrow;
Dreams yet to be fulfilled;
And paths way too narrow;
There are fights that need to be fought-
And fights that ought not;
People who don't take the time
To slow down and understand;
But somehow this life is a miracle-
And yet those with that constant
Twinkle in their eyes
Are those who most often
Slow down to appreciate the world.
