"Dawn"
Dawn arouses and brushes her green hair
Washing it with cool, sweet- smelling dew,
Waking birds to embrace the morning light
Calling the shadows concealed by night.
Dawn puts the creatures of night into bed,
And wraps the trees in its energy
It shows off the world humbly awakened,
And shows the beauty we want captured.
It awakens the day lilies now asleep
And invites serpents into its warmth
It calls roses to grow and vines to climb
And summons children to come and play.
It scares away the lurking fears of night
And brings hope of the bright day ahead,
Opening my heart and mind in wonder
And closing one more chapter of life.
