Dream Mistress

"Dream Mistress"

Some mistress who is o so distant but o so close...

Dreaming dreams, and showing others what it is to dream,
Longing and hoping, finding joy, subsiding fear-
She wants to help the world redeem.

She sits so quietly in her distant humble home,
Weaving her tapestries of old and new...
Memories of brilliant success and venomous failure,
But sees all dreams, whether or not they be true.

Takes them at face value, for all they're worth,
Sorts the impostures and finds their ultimate downfall-
All without breaking a heart, so tender and mild,
But the doctor of dreams, who fixes any and all.

A soft-toned, gentle, pure, bright woman,
As passionate into what she does as could ever be,
Who looks at the dreamers' hearts and minds-
Who looks into more than any man can figure or see.

Somewhere near, in an ulterior land...
Finding dreams, and fixing their core,
The dream mistress is working day in, day out-
And sewing them, so they're complete, and hurt no more.

In the conscience of every man, and woman,
In the interior gut of even the most unaware child,
There is a woman working, connecting us all,
With her truthful voice, speaking harsh truths, so mild.

Note: Tonight I got to thinking about dreams. Those who know me best know that I do that a lot. Then I got to thinking: What motivates us to dream? How do we fix broken dreams? The answer I got was that something inside of us guides us, all of us, equally- at the same time, but individually- the same abstract being. And it heals us all, in its own ways. Gently, like a mother, yet strong, and harsh.
