"Will Become"

To all my friends, may all their days
Be filled with wisdom, but foolishness too,
Knowing the difference and still making mistakes,
And knowing we all do.

May they not have too many tears,
But not be lacking of them either.
May they always move forward in life
And know when they need to take a breather.

May they look at the sunshine and rain as equals
And never let love fall through the cracks,
May they always have a home in the world
And have to work, but not break their backs.

May they look into a crowd of people,
Picking out their enemies from their friends.
May they fight with those nearest and dearest to them,
But may they always make amends.

May they always know what they stand for,
And constantly put their beliefs on trial.
May they find that some of the little joys,
Are what make living worthwhile.

May they have their share of bad days
And smile when each is done.
One day I hope and pray they'll be proud
Of who they will have become.
