Gotta Start Somewhere

"Gotta Start Somewhere"

I'm walking this road
With no where to go
I don't know which way is which

And I run from nothing and no one
Keeping my head high like daddy taught me to
Raise your fist, and I won't back down
But I won't start a fight unless I have to

I'm walking through this city
A stranger to every street
But friendly to all I meet

I'm walking right down this highway
Thumbing my way to nowhere
But mama always taught me
I gotta start somewhere

I'm riding along this back road
The only place I can call my home
Mama and daddy may not miss me
But they taught me to never forget where I'm from

So I'm back where I started, a good place to start
But I don't know which way to go
I guess if I follow mom and dad's directions
I really don't have to know

So tomorrow I'll start this road again
With only a start and no real end
I might go there, or maybe here,
I might settle down, in a couple years

I'm walking this road
With no where to go
I don't know which way is which

And I run from nothing and no one
Keeping my head high like daddy taught me to
Raise your fist, and I won't back down
But I won't start a fight unless I have to

I'm walking right down this highway
Thumbing my way to nowhere
But mama always taught me
I gotta start somewhere
