"Who Am I"
Who am I but a traveler
Along the road of life?
Who am I but a seeker
Avoiding too much strife?
Who am I but a dreamer
Walking in the clouds?
Who am I but an imaginer
Covered in a shroud?
Who am I but a soul
Enclosed in a mortal body?
Who am I but a light
Who could be extinguished by anybody?
Who am I but a thinker
Racking my mind?
Who am i but a neighbor
Trying my best to be kind?
Who am I but a believer
Knowing and believing for what I stand?
Who am I but a friend
Learning to understand?
Who am I but a lone girl
Living in a big place?
Who am I but another person-
Just another face?
Who am I but a reader
Joining in the adventures?
Who am I but another woman
Looking to internal beauty
To help her endure?
This best describes me, not my best poem, but it describes me. I am all this. A dreamer, a thinker, a believer. I know myself, in my heart, but sometimes I lose faith in who i am, i don't lose what i am, i lose the faith in her though.
This is the original ending to the poem:
Who am I but a reader
Joining in the adventures?
Who am I but another woman,
Looking for love
To help her endure?
